88. - (1) A standing committee to which a bill or other business has been or stands committed shall meet to consider such business on the day and at the hour named by the

Member appointed chairman of the committee in respect of that business. If the consideration of the business is not completed at that sitting the committee shall meet further to consider the business on such days of the week (being days on which the House sits) as may be appointed by the committee at half-past ten o’clock, unless the committee otherwise determines:

Provided that no standing committee shall sit between the hours of one o’clock and half-past three o’clock in the afternoon, except as hereinafter provided.

(2) If a standing committee is not previously adjourned, the chairman shall adjourn the committee without putting any question at one o’clock, save as provided in Standing Order No. 100 (Scottish Grand Committee (sittings)), No. 108 (Welsh Grand Committee (sittings)) and Standing Order No. 116 (Northern Ireland Grand Committee (sittings));

Provided that-

(i) if, in the opinion of the chairman, the proceedings on a bill or other business could be brought to a final conclusion by a short extension of the sitting, he may defer adjourning the committee until a quarter past one o’clock;

(ii) if proceedings under Standing Order No. 36 (Closure of debate) be in progress at the time when the chairman is required to adjourn the committee under this paragraph, he shall not adjourn the committee until the question for the closure of debate, the question or questions consequent thereon and on any further motion as provided in that Standing Order, have been decided.

88. - (1) Una commissione permanente cui sia stato o permanga assegnato un progetto di legge o altra attività si riunirà per procedere al suo esame nel giorno ed all’ora stabiliti dal Membro nominato presidente della commissione con riguardo a quella attività. Qualora l’esame non venga ultimato in quella seduta la commissione si riunirà ulteriormente per esaminare la questione nei giorni della settimana (che siano giorni di seduta della Camera) che potranno essere stabiliti dalla commissione alle 10.30, a meno che la commissione non disponga diversamente:

A condizione che nessuna commissione permanente terrà seduta fra le 13.00 e le 15.30, ad eccezione di quanto qui di seguito disposto.

(2) Se una commissione permanente non venga precedentemente aggiornata, il presidente provvederà ad aggiornarla senza porre alcuna questione alle ore 13.00, salvo quanto disposto nello Standing Order n. 100 (Gran Commissione Scozzese (sedute)), n. 108 (Gran Commissione Gallese (sedute) e nello Standing Order n. 116 (Gran Commissione per l’Irlanda del Nord (sedute));

A condizione che

(i) se, ad avviso del presidente, i lavori su di un progetto di legge o altra attività, possano essere ultimati mediante un breve prolungamento della seduta, questi può rinviare l’aggiornamento della commissione fino alle 13.15;

(ii) se siano in corso lavori ai sensi dello Standing Order n. 36 (Chiusura della discussione) al momento in cui il presidente, ai sensi del presente paragrafo, è tenuto ad aggiornare la commissione, questi non aggiornerà la commissione finché non si sia deliberato sulla questione per la chiusura della discussione, sulla o sulle questioni che ne conseguono e su qualunque ulteriore mozione secondo quanto previsto in quello Standing Order.
